Have you ever wondered how to write really good dialogue? The kind that has readers laughing or crying while gathering information on the story and plot without them even realizing it?

And how about those characters? Wouldn’t it be great to have a cheat sheet that showed you how to develop a truly awesome character that feels not only real, but like they grew up in that incredible fantasy world you created? Oh, and explained how the main character’s arc actually creates the book plot? That would be sweet.

Well, I know a place where you can access ALL of that (and lots more)!

In the Ultimate Fantasy Writer’s Guide, of course! This is the course I created that gathers all the important tips & techniques I’ve learned and honed over my years of publishing fantasy novels. It is all the stuff that I wish someone had told me when I first started out as it would have made a HUGE difference to how fast I grew my career and improved my writing. I put it together in one place to help other fantasy writers reach their dreams faster.

The doors to the Ultimate Fantasy Writer’s Guide opened yesterday.

I told you a little of the 12 step-by-step modules that take you from the spark of an idea to launching an amazing fantasy novel to raving fans. But really, what does that mean??

So today, we are going in-depth into the 6 writing modules that begin the Guide. Because good writing used to create a powerful story that readers will love is the HEART of creating an author career. You just can’t get there without it. That is why the Guide begins with these 6 modules of easy to follow steps that teach you the core of what you need to know (without a ton of jargon or confusing information that will just slow you down) of how to develop a stellar fantasy novel.

It all begins with Module 1: Developing Your Story Idea

This intensive 3 part module begins with a lesson on developing the spark of an idea into a full novel plot in easy to follow steps that include an Idea Development Worksheet. The main goal is not to turn you into a plotter (I’m not) but to build a framework that ensures you have the core of a fantastic story, one that won’t leave you, or readers, hanging and waste months of writing time.

From there, it delves into building your word without taking months or years to create something unique that feels like if you opened the right door, you’d stumble into streets of an amazing new world, including discussions on magic and why fantasy writing needs, and follows, rules. It all wraps up with a lesson on characters and character arcs. Specifically, how to create deep characters and why you need to give them a character arc (and how to do it simply, of course!). Most importantly, it shows you how to develop characters that sound and feel like they’ve stepped from the world you’ve created and not like transplants from this world or worse someone else’s book.

Another in-depth three part lesson awaits you in Module 2: Intro to Writing

Here you build on Module 1 with an introduction to point-of-view and character voice. Do you love how the characters in George R.R. Martin sound so different? Do you like how he has a different character’s point-of-view in each chapter? We cover how to do that!

With characters and the story framework in place, we move into how to write powerful chapters that will keep readers turning pages waaayyyy past their bedtime. Because I’m cruel to my readers that way. 😉 And we wrap up a specific strategy of how to reach the goal of finishing the first draft. If you have unfinished manuscripts, stories that got lost along the way, and have friends using air quotes when they introduce you as their writer friend… well, this lesson will kick them you-know-where and set you on the fast path to reaching your goal.

In Module 3: Writing the Beginning, the work of writing gets intense!

No more playing around. It is time to start writing. We delve into how to write an awesome beginning that will hook readers from opening line to the inciting incident. How do you introduce characters? How do you describe the backstory, the world, the character’s life without an info dump that will bog readers down, or make them close the book? ACK! We have it covered. The beginning of your story will be awesome and engaging.

Module 4: Writing the Middle gets you through the hurdles

The middle is where most authors, and readers, flounder. Comprising almost 50% of the novel, all those hurdles and lulls (do you need lulls?) can feel pointless or repetitive if you don’t have a strategy. This lesson gives you that. We go deep into the three phases of the middle, talk about what hurdles and lulls are anyway (and what sort you should have), and how the main character sets, and keeps, the plot in motion – at least if you’re doing it right. And you will be once you finish this module!

Module 5: Writing the End wraps up the story but not the course

Tackling the big climactic scene in fantasy can be a huge task. All those plot lines, characters, writing a big battle… how do you not disappoint readers and make the whole book worthwhile? How do you write that amazing ending that readers will love, remember, and tell all their friends about? Ooooh, such good questions to know.

We cover them in this module with a look at what sets the climactic scene apart from the previous hurdles, how to write the big battle, and then wrap it all up by setting the stage for the next book or end it all in a way that will linger in a reader’s mind.

Now you have the book down, raise the bar with Module 6: Advanced Writing Techniques!

The final writing module takes your writing even further with dedicated sessions on enhancing tension with pacing, deeper techniques for character development and voice, and how to write effective dialogue. See, I told you we’d get the dialogue! Use these pro techniques to take your writing, and your story, up a notch!

The Ultimate Fantasy Writer’s Guide doesn’t end there though

We’ll look at the 6 modules, 6 more modules!, that go beyond writing tomorrow. Because this course really will take you from an idea to an amazing story and then teach you how to publish it to raving fans. We haven’t talked about the publishing or finding those raving fans yet! See you tomorrow.

And don’t forget you can go peek at the Guide now while the door is open before it closes in a few days!
